When to Visit Żejtun: A Month-by-Month Guide
A month-by-month guide to Żejtun’s weather, events, and atmosphere — to help you pick the right week for what you actually want to do.
This article is a stub. Detailed monthly notes to follow.
The shape of the year
Malta has a Mediterranean climate. Summers (June to September) are hot, dry, and increasingly humid in late August; winters (December to February) are mild and wet by Mediterranean standards but cool by African ones. The shoulder seasons — March to May, and October to mid-November — are the sweet spot for most kinds of visit: walks are pleasant, the parish square is liveable in the middle of the day, and the restaurants are less booked. April brings Easter and the Good Friday pageant; mid-June brings the festa week; July and August are reliably hot and the south can feel exposed during the day; September is often the warmest month for the sea; October is the best month for walking; November brings the calendar feast of St Catherine and the first proper rain; December brings Christmas markets and a quiet town.

The shoulder-season case
The single best time to visit Żejtun, if you’re flexible, is the shoulder season. Mid-March to mid-May and mid-September to mid-November give you long, warm days, manageable evenings, walkable countryside, swim-able sea (just), and substantially fewer visitors than the high summer. Restaurants are easier to book. Accommodation is cheaper. The light photographs better. The festa is in June, which is part of the shoulder, and well worth coming for if you can plan around it. Avoid mid-July to late August unless you specifically want heat; avoid the deep wet weeks in late November and February if you want to walk.
