The Tallinja system, briefly

Public transport on Malta is operated as a single integrated bus network — Tallinja — and you pay either with a contactless bank card, a Tallinja Card (a rechargeable transport pass available at the airport, ferry terminals, and main stations), or in cash to the driver (more expensive, and increasingly rare). A two-hour transfer is included on most fares: tap on for one bus and you can change to another within two hours without paying again. The network serves Żejtun with several routes that connect the town to Valletta, the airport, the southern villages, and the eastern coast at Marsascala. Routes run frequently through the day and thin out after about 10pm.
